In the main building of Lviv Polytechnic National University, a meeting was held with designer and psychologist Anastasia Sorokova, who held an open workshop on art therapy.

This is the ninth workshop at Polytechnic within a series of lectures for designers #designburger. During the event, students, majoring in design and architecture, learned to draw objects by feeling: with their eyes closed, they touched various objects, which they tried to depict on paper.

– This workshop on art therapy is based on the methodology of the Bauhaus school (one of the leading art schools where design was born). This school had a lot of activities that are similar to art therapy, meditation, and yoga. This workshop teaches not only to generate ideas and be in the creative process, but also to relieve mental tension. After all, the fine motility of the hands is involved, which clears our thoughts and brings us back to the «now» moment to draw through feelings. Students drew by touch. They did not see with their eyes what they were drawing, only their hands «saw» and served as a tool that studied the subject, helped the brain to make associations, understand what it is, and draw. The first benefit of such classes is that they relieve mental tension and relax. They also help to connect with your feelings and associations, and associations are an eternal engine of creativity, said Anastasia Sorokova.

Anastasia has two educations: she studied design at Lviv Polytechnic and psychology at UKU. Now she combines these two specialties and conducts various therapeutic workshops.
