Lviv Polytechnic enhances cooperation with Copernicus University in Toruń in the field of medical innovation and academic entrepreneurship

During her research internship at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (Uniwersytet Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu), Olena Lukachuk, a researcher at the R&D Department, Lviv Polytechnic, visited the Centre for Modern Interdisciplinary Technologies.

The representative of our University met with the director of the Center, Professor Jerzy Łukaszewicz, who told her about the history of the creation and activities of this institution, its structural units, laboratories, existing projects and priority areas for further development. Among them there is BioSep, Henomika (including biomedical research), ZIFI (physics and IT), and Neuro (innovative methods of researching the human brain in health and disease).

The Center also has ACAMED that specializes in the development of software and diagnostic equipment for oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and laboratory research. Oleksandra Vypych, Head of MedTech, told Olena Lukachuk about the orthopedic developments that have already received positive feedback from both orthopedic surgeons and patients.

During the meeting with the staff of the Centre for Modern Interdisciplinary Technologies, several areas for further cooperation were agreed upon, including cardiology and radiology. It was agreed to have fruitful and, most importantly, effective cooperation aimed at developing MedTech in higher education institutions. Finally, Director Jerzy Łukaszewicz invited Olena Lukachuk to make a record of the visit in the Center’s presentation room.

Olena Lukachuk also visited the Center for Academic Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer and learned more about its activities. Its director, Michal Mentel, told Olena Lukachuk about the projects, needs, problems, and achievements of the Center.

The scientific internship was held within the framework of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) program «Solidarity with Ukraine» and at the invitation of Antonina Kozyrska, Professor at the Faculty of Political and Security Sciences, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
