Volodymyr Skorokhoda, Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic, Volodymyr Levytskyi, Head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Plastics Processing and Mykhailo Bratychak, guarantor of the new educational program «Technology of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medical Products», held a meeting with representatives of the Superhumans prosthetics and reconstruction clinic – Medical Director Andrii Vilenskyi and Viktoriia Olikh, Head of the Department of Prosthetics Center.
It is important to create mechanisms for the interaction of education with the real sector, which will make it possible to ensure high-quality training of specialists based on a combination of theoretical and practical training. The educational programs, admission of employees to master’s programs, internship programs for students, educational and professional standards were agreed upon, as well as updating of the technical base of the Department of Chemical Technology of Plastics Processing was discussed at the meeting. The priority directions for ensuring the compliance of the educational potential with the needs of biomedical engineering in the context of increasing the efficiency of professional training in the field of prosthetic and orthopedic products and rehabilitation equipment, in particular in the preparation of graduates capable of designing, manufacturing, servicing prosthetic and orthopedic products and solving problems of social activity, were identified.
The Superhumans clinic was established on the basis of a hospital in Vynnyky. It provides prosthetics for adults and children, surgical operations for the reconstruction and restoration of mutilated parts of the body or face, as well as treats post-traumatic stress disorder. The clinic houses a complex of prosthetics laboratories, which are the best in Europe. Prostheses are made from scratch and according to the specific needs of each patient. Since there is a problem of qualified training of specialists in the manufacture of modern prostheses and their maintenance, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Lviv Polytechnic National University and this clinic.
