Dr. inż. Paweł Stężycki, Director of the Institute of Aviation, the Lukasiewicz Research Network in Warsaw, and Dr. Michal Wiercinski, Vice President of the Polish Space Agency together with Ivan Demydov, Vice-Rector for Research, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and representatives of a number of Lviv Polytechnic Institutes, including ITRE, IGDG, ICNI, ICSIT, and IMET, met on June 11.
At the meeting, they discussed the most topical issues and applied problems of the aviation, rocket and space industry, as well as challenges in the implementation of relevant projects that are currently being implemented.
– Without establishing multidisciplinary relations, it is impossible to get a competitive product. Our Polish partners have good experience, as they work directly with companies that need solutions or provide services in the field of aerospace engineering and related areas. In particular, the Aviation Institute mainly implements projects aimed at commercialization. Among them there is the NATO G6261 international project on humanitarian demining, which is common to both our institutions. At Lviv Polytechnic, we are also striving for this. At the meeting we discussed the ways to develop research and development as well as cooperation between the institutions. It is also an opportunity to establish relations to undergo internships for our researchers, academic staff and students, explained Vice-Rector Ivan Demydov.
He also emphasized that such cooperation is also useful in terms of student training. After all, educational programs will be adjusted and adapted to the requirements of the labour market. Foreign internships under various programs are also planned. All this will help our university graduates to be more competitive in the labour market.
It should also be taken into account that cooperation with promising institutions is an important component in the formation of Lviv Polytechnic’s international rankings.
– These partners will actually become for us a window to the European business space. After all, our Institutes have lots of significant developments, but there is lack experience in commercialization and cooperation with business partners. When discussing the next steps in the development of cooperation, we paid special attention to remote monitoring and research of objects of different classes and the search for common topics for commercialization of relevant research in the European business space, added Ivan Demydov.
It should be noted that Lviv Polytechnic has been training specialists in Aviation, Rocket and Space Engineering for several years, so the visit of the Polish side was another step towards establishing international relations, finding internship opportunities for academic staff and building capacity for joint research projects.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare a cooperation agreement and exchanged views on the state of affairs in the field of design and application of unmanned aerial vehicles and related multidisciplinary technologies.
