The Vice-Rector Professor Natalia Chukhrai congratulated the participants of the meeting. She briefly explained the importance of the conference themes: - Technical achievements of the twentieth century contributed to the fact, that the world has a special intellectual environment of interaction, which is implemented by means of a computer. Thus the questions of effective communication come to the forefront. Resolutions for those questions, try to encounter not only computer engineers, software engineers, physicists, mathematicians, but also linguists all over the world. In today's information society, applied linguistics helps to see the threats which are related with such processes as, for example, the invasion of into the inner world of human, consciousness manipulation and more. The question of information security is also studied by applied linguistics, especially in the current Ukrainian political and economic realities. - Today, we understand how important various areas of applied linguistics are. The language is interpreted as a weapon. This was mentioned by Lesia Ukrainka, and known cognitive linguist Professor Svitlana Zhabotynska. Unfortunately, we know not merely the "hot" and "cold" war, but a war of ideologies that came forth in the postmodern era and does not fit to the typical criteria of information warfare. War theatre operations are our awareness. At the same time for it fights are carried. We have to sharpen our language to win this war, - Says Olena Levchenko, head of AL Department Around six dozen participants from different cities of Ukraine came for the conference, as well as scientists from Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic. According to director of ICSIT Professor Mykola Medykovskyi, it is significant that the plenary session of the conference was attended by master students of the department.
