From September 27 to October 5, 2024, the lecturers of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management, Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic, Professor Vira Sabadash, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Associate Professor Oksana Liuta, Candidate of Technical Sciences, took part in the training «Blended/Online Learning on Climate Change: Combining Theory, Technology and Practical Application» held at the Estonian University of Tartu within the framework of the Erasmus+ project Multilevel Local, Nation- and Regionwide Education and Training in Climate Services, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation – ClimEd.
Academic staff from leading European universities and all Ukrainian universities involved in the ClimEd project were invited to participate in the training. Participants had the opportunity to learn about innovative methods of using modern platforms for blended learning.
The training included a course of lectures on the following topics:
- climate policy, goals and opportunities, impact on climate change;
- advanced methods of research on the atmosphere and Earth systems;
- innovative educational technologies for climate education;
- modelling for climate and environmental research;
- development of online and blended learning programmes for climate education;
- advanced technologies in Moodle to improve climate education;
and group work with the subsequent defence of projects on the topics «Planning a blended module for climate topic» and «Development of exam questions for climate change education programmes in the Moodle environment».
At the end of the training, participants had the opportunity to visit Lahemaa National Park.
Participation in the training gave Lviv Polytechnic the opportunity to adopt the best practices of using various teaching methods from modern European universities with the possibility of implementing them in their work.
