The event, which was held on March 21, 2023 in the Scientific and Technical Library, Lviv Polytechnic National University, was dedicated to the centenary of the Oleksa Novakivskyi Art School. The school was a unique center of Ukrainian spiritual and artistic life in the interwar period and the first Ukrainian art institution in Galicia that gave young people the opportunity to acquire artistic skills and education.

The Art School was founded by Oleksa Novakivskyi, a prominent Ukrainian painter and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. But the initiator of the creation of the educational institution was the great spiritual preacher Andrey Sheptytskyi, who financially supported its establishment.

The lecture, which was accompanied with a slide show, was delivered by Oleksandr Sheiko, a junior researcher at the Oleksa Novakivsky Memorial Art Museum. Visitors had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the rich history of the Art School, its famous students, teachers, and works, as well as to learn about the important contribution of Andrey Sheptytskyi to the education of a new generation of Ukrainian artists.
