Access to sources of scientific information is important for Ukrainian scientists, because it helps them to continue their own research and to be integrated into the international scientific space in difficult conditions caused by Russian aggression.

Since 2022 it has not been possible to pre-pay for access to electronic resources of scientific information at the expense of the state in such a format as it was before the invasion of the Russian Federation. Thanks to partners – international publishers and companies – that supported Ukraine in the face of aggression and opened free access for Ukrainian scientists to their own collections of electronic resources, Ukrainian scientists have the opportunity to use important sources of scientific information and literature free of charge.

The MES appreciates the long-term cooperation with the Clarivate and Elsevier companies, which give Ukrainian scientists access to the Web of Science and Scopus databases and at the same time provide access to a number of other important databases and tools for research. The need and importance of these resources for Ukrainian scientists is confirmed by the statistics of their usage – from 50 to 100 thousand search requests and content views are made every month by users from Ukraine.

Thanks to the support of the Research4Life project team, more than 550 Ukrainian institutions registered on the portal and got the opportunity to set up access for their employees. Access to electronic resources through the Research4Life project enables scientists and educators, as well as specialists in the fields of public administration, health care, agriculture, etc. from developing countries, to use electronic books, journals, databases of many publishing houses and companies of the world. The platform provides access to more than 200 thousand resources.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is grateful to partners – publishing houses, companies, and organizations – for this support. Thanks to this decision, Ukrainian researchers have free access to the most important sources of scientific information.
