The International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, is launching the Eastern Diaspora: Common Language project, a new communication platform for dialogue between Ukrainians of the Eastern Diaspora and Ukraine.

The platform is created for interaction between representatives of public organizations of the Eastern Diaspora and Ukraine. Its purpose is to establish regular communication and exchange of experience, as well as to promote advanced training of leaders and members of public organizations, teachers of Ukrainian studies schools, and leaders of amateur art.

Within the framework of this initiative, meetings on various cultural and educational issues will be held offline and online on a regular basis (quarterly). At these events, we will speak a common language – a language of understanding, support and respect. We are sure our platform will bring fruit. We do not leave our people!

In the modern socio-cultural discourse the Ukrainians of the Eastern Diaspora occupy a very modest place, despite the fact that it includes millions of Ukrainians from a number of post-Soviet countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. This is in fact a large and diverse world – the eastern world of the Ukrainian diaspora, which, unfortunately, has been out of the spotlight.

Our Institute was and remains one of the few institutions that keep an eye on the Ukrainians on the eastern side of the state border of Ukraine. As evidenced by dozens of forums and congresses organized by IECDR, Ukrainians there need a reliable partnership to be heard in their homeland, and to really feel community with their compatriots. Unfortunately, however, the desire of Ukrainians in the Eastern Diaspora to cultivate and preserve their national identity often did not receive adequate support.

We will try to listen to you, hear and broadcast issues to stakeholders. We believe that joint new projects will be born! So let’s work together! We are waiting for your suggestions. We are waiting for the applications to participate!
