An interactive event was held to share the experience with the faculty of the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems

On October 18, 2023, within the framework of the project «European Studies for Technical Specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University» (EUSTS) and with the support of the EU Erasmus+ programme, Jean Monnet, there was an interactive event «Dissemination of best practices in teaching European studies and creation of interdisciplinary programs in higher education institutions of Ukraine: exchange of experience with the faculty of the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems». The event was organized by the team of the Center «European Studies for Technical Specialties at Lviv Polytechnic».

In her speech, Professor Yaryna Turchyn, Head of the EUSTS project, shared information about the specifics of the implementation of European studies at Lviv Polytechnic National University and the prospects for the development of interdisciplinary educational programs. Analyzing the peculiarities of the European integration process in Ukraine, she focused attention on the expediency of a more thorough study of the EU’s energy policy and the implementation of European standards in the energy sector of Ukraine, and on the strengthening the energy sustainability of our country, in particular through the development of renewable energy in compliance with standards in the field of environmental protection and climate change prevention. The speaker emphasized the interdisciplinary nature and relevance of The Energy Security educational program, which is successfully implemented at the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems, and also revealed the peculiarities of The Environmental and Energy Security in International Relations, which is implemented by the Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Based on the results of the survey conducted by the «European Studies for Technical Specialties», Yaryna Turchyn noted the perspective of introducing an interdisciplinary program on energy policy and climate sustainability of the EU.

The event was moderated by Associate Professor Lidiia Kasha, Department of Electromechatronics and Computerized Electromechanical Systems, a member of the EUSTS team.

In total, 113 people – students and faculty of the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems – participated in the event. The EUSTS project team expresses its gratitude to all participants of the event for interesting discussions, professional presentations, exchange of best practices and development of new ideas for the development of European studies at Lviv Polytechnic National University!

Associate Professor Oleksandr Markovets, Department of Social Communication and Information Activities, and Associate Professors Iryna Sukhorolska and Olena Lukachuk, Department of Political Science and International Relations, also joined the organization of the event.
