Ukraine has recently joined the Global Money Week 2021 – international campaign to raise the financial awareness of children and youth. During this time, lots of events, lessons, lectures, workshops, master classes, competitions and contests were held in different countries around the world to raise the financial awareness of the younger generation.

As part of the Financial Literacy discipline (the course is taught by the Head of the Department of Management Technologies, Doctor of Economics, Professor Pavlo Ilchuk) students and academic staff of the University actively participated in Global Money Weeek 2021. This year the National Bank of Ukraine awarded Polytechnicians with a Certificate of Appreciation for their contribution to the development of Financial Literacy.

In 2021, due to the constant effective reforms of the educational process, it has become much easier for the community of Lviv Polytechnic to join such events. In particular, in the 2020–2021 academic year, due to the modernization of the choice based system of disciplines, all University master’s students had a great opportunity to study not only the disciplines provided by their study program, but also to choose any disciplines of other educational programs. In general, in 2020–2021 academic year, for the first time master’s students chose from more than 100 disciplines, instead of 5–10 as it was before.

Therefore, due to such reforming, for the first time students from various Institutes of Lviv Polytechnic were able to choose the disciplines they like and will need not only for professional, but also personal development. In particular, master’s students of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies chose «Financial Literacy», which they would study in 2021 together with master’s students majoring in Project Management and Management of Residential Buildings and Their Associations, Department of Management Technologies, Institute of Administration and Postgraduate Education.

The Department of Management Technologies welcomes such practice of choosing a wide range of disciplines by master’s students and invites students and academic staff to increase the level of financial literacy through joint efforts.
