On October 23, 2021, faculty of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic, began their training under the advanced training course «Training for trainers on social inclusion and inclusive education».
The program, which is implemented due to Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation – a partnership of Lviv Polytechnic, in particular the Department of Sociology and Social Work, and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg (Canada), has become an urgent response to today’s challenges and social problems.
The program includes two modules – «Organization of distance learning for higher education students with special educational needs» and «Ensuring access to education for people with special educational needs in higher education». In total – 120 academic hours (4 ECTS credits).
The program will be taught both offline and online by Visiting Professor of Lviv Polytechnic, Dr. Maureen P. Flaherty, Associate Professor, Peace & Conflict Studies, the University of Manitoba, with the team of the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, the University of Manitoba (Colin Webb, Cheikh Ould Moulaye).
15 academics from the Department of Sociology and Social Work take part in the advanced training course.
The program is implemented within the framework of a new educational initiative of the Department of Sociology and Social Work and the International «Integration» Centre for Professional Partnerships (non-formal education) in the field of social inclusion and inclusive education.
Acquired knowledge and formed competencies, as well as certificates will allow our teachers to share the experience gained with the community of Lviv Polytechnic, especially research and teaching staff.
In the future, a similar program will be launched for the specialists of social services of the city of Lviv and the region.
