On August, 9–16, 80 representatives of student parliaments of territorial communities of Lviv region, districts and the Lviv regional student parliament took part in the annual School of Ideas and Leadership for Leaders of Student Self-Government of Lviv Region.
The event was organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Region State Administration. The training took place in the picturesque village of Nahuievychi at the Nahuievychi Special School at the Lviv Regional Council.
For eight days, the boys and girls were resting and learning how to be a leader in the youth environment, gaining new knowledge and improving their project writing skills. The lecturers and mentors were young scientists, graduates of student governments and the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, activists of youth NGOs, and academics from Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The student leaders attended many interesting courses and lectures, in particular from representatives of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, including:
- The Role and Place of a Leader in the Modern International System (Petro Sukhorolskyi, Candidate of Juridical Sciences, Associate Professor),
- The European Union and Prospects for Ukrainian Youth (Iryna Sukhorolska, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor),
- Youth Public Diplomacy (Zoriana Zazuliak, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor),
- Psychological operations in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war and methods of counteraction (Roman Pasichnyi, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor).
The participants of the Leadership School learnt how to work individually, in a team and how to teach others. They gained knowledge in political science, international relations, media literacy, project management, and personal leadership development. A competition «My First Project» was held among the participants, and 15 winners were awarded valuable prizes.
