From October 28 to November 10, Liubomyr Fedoriv, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy of Lviv Polytechnic, underwent his internship at the University of Bayreuth. In our interview below you can read about his new experience and peculiarities of study process in Germany.
– Tell us about the program. How did you learn about it?
– It allows you to do an internship at one of the Bavarian universities. The program is supported and funded by the Bavarian Academic Center for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe (BAYHOST). I found out about it thanks to Professor of Practical Philosophy, Dr. Julian Fink, who twice visited the Lviv Polytechnic Department of Philosophy as a visiting professor.
– What did you notice at once and what impressed you the most?
– The concept. The spirit of the University is everywhere. This is despite the fact that the University is young, it is only 45 years old. University campus is outside the city. This has its advantages: there is nothing to distract students from their studies. That is, all buildings on the University premises (laboratories, research centers, gyms, stadiums) are related to study process. There are no entertainment clubs, bars, etc. Their university is an environment for learning.
– Do you plan to put into practice something from your new experience?
– Yes, of course. I have already told about it at the meeting of our Department members and spoke to the colleagues from others. I think we need to take over the experience of their seminars. At our seminars the answer often lasts no longer than 10 minutes. The report must be more extensive.
The second is interactive lectures. At the University of Bayreuth, many lecturers provide materials before the lecture begins. Students get acquainted. Some of them come already with questions about its content and become participants in this lecture.
