Two new associate partners from Ukraine are joining the ENHANCE Alliance, which is part of the Erasmus+ funding programme, which brings together European universities of technology to create an innovative structure of European networks, increasing student and staff mobility as well as developing innovative learning and social interactions.

According to the official website of the organization, ENHANCE Alliance is pleased to welcome two new associate partners – the National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» and Lviv Polytechnic National University. Both institutions will join a highly interdisciplinary network of partners from scientific circles, industry, politics and society.

ENHANCE strives for the sustainable transformation of societies through learning and research. It is based on European values. That is why it is very important for the Alliance to support those European universities whose activities are at risk of war. The Alliance wants to build a partnership that will build bridges even beyond the current difficult situation and create opportunities for research and teaching in the coming years.

Professor Krzysztof Zaremba, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology (member university of ENHANCE), explained: «We have had very fruitful cooperation in the past, and we want to strengthen our relationships with both universities in these difficult times». Increasing joint efforts will give students and staff from both universities the opportunity to take advantage of mobility programs at seven ENHANCE member universities.

Professor Anne Borg, Rector of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENHANCE, said: «ENHANCE is not only an Alliance of seven universities that share a desire to promote best practices in education and research, it is also an Alliance that takes its responsibility for European society seriously».

Currently, the cooperation focuses on the opportunities provided to students of Ukrainian universities to take advantage of attractive offers of learning and participation in ENHANCE ecosystems. In the medium and long term, consolidation will take place through increased mobility, exchanges between student governments and scientific cooperation.

«It is crucial that we show solidarity with Ukraine’s higher education institutions and provide them with ways to compensate for the devastation caused by this terrible war», said Naveed Syed, Secretary General of ENHANCE.
