VDC Roasting is a student team contest for students of Architecture, Construction and Engineering, which aims to spread knowledge and practical skills in Virtual Design and Construction among the younger generation of professionals in the construction industry.
Project idea: to spread knowledge about virtual construction technologies. The purpose of the contest: to determine HEIs where students understand the best the purpose of using virtual construction technologies and show the winning result in the contest of practical cases related to the phases of the construction life cycle. At each of these phases, VDC will help teams address a number of issues, including the organization of site logistics and the creation of an overall construction schedule; intersystem coordination; and value engineering – in order to increase the energy efficiency.
This year, students from all over the country took part in the competition. The teams of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, O.M.Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Hochschule Darmstadt competed in the final.
The winners of the contest became two teams from Lviv Polytechnic. The first place was taken by students of the Institute of Architecture and Design: Dmytro Khreisat and Nestor Shevchenko and students of the Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems: Andrii Androniichuk, Oleksandr Hela and Nadiia Savka.
The third place was taken by the first and second year masters’ students of the Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems: Roman Havrys, Oksana Prokopyk, Mariia Babuniak, Anastasiia Panasiuk and student of the Institute of Architecture and Design Yaroslav Hut.
The winners received a cash prize of 1,000 euros and 500 euros for third place in the contest.
