Since 2019 the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, together with the Career Guidance Center, Lviv Polytechnic National University, organizes the online school Youth Diplomacy Hub.
The event is held with the aim of sharing experience and practical skills by representatives of diplomatic and consular services, civil servants and public figures to students majoring in «International relations, public communications and regional studies»; familiarizing with the peculiarities of consular and diplomatic relations; forming young people’s understanding of challenges in the field of modern diplomacy; as well as increasing the level of professional knowledge necessary for successful career growth of young specialists.
Great speakers, including well-known experts, analysts, employees of consular offices, graduates of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, representatives of Ukrainian and foreign institutions are directly involved in the event.
The special speaker of this year’s Youth Diplomacy Hub is Andrii Yurash, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Vatican, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Sovereign Military Order of the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta on a part-time basis (from September 27, 2022).
The School participants were also extremely interested in the reports by:
- Yaroslav Vizniak – Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Ternopil;
- Marharyta Sokorenko – Commissioner for the European Court of Human Rights;
- Natalie Dapkene – founder of the Center for Ukrainians, Lithuania, fundraiser, political consultant;
- Oksana Kruchinina – lecturer at the Department of Political Science and International Relations and founder of the Hope.UA Charitable Foundation;
- Yana Shevchenko – the deputy head of the Department for Prisoners of War and Deportees, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
Also interesting were the presentations by Viktor Demko and Bohdan Mirinchyk, students of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, who participated in many international academic mobility programs and are Young European Ambassadors within the Eastern Partnership program.
During the two days of the School’s activities about 130 participants, who are interested in the field of international relations and diplomacy, took part in the events. The participants discussed the current issues of the development of modern Ukrainian diplomacy during the wartime, the peculiarities of diplomatic work, analyzed the labour market, as well as got acquainted with the possibilities of improving the professional knowledge necessary for the successful career growth of a young international specialist.
