The Department of Management of Organizations, the Institute of Economics and Management, Lviv Polytechnic, celebrated its 80th anniversary. The event gathered more than 200 guests in the Assembly Hall of the University main building, including alumni, academics, students and honoured guests. Numerous video greetings were also sent from former graduates of the Department.
Among the guests of honour there was Professor Nataliya Chukhray, Doctor of Economics, a representative of the University Administration, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations; Professor Mykhailo Honchar, Doctor of Economics, Director of the Institute of Economics and Management; and Professor Oleh Kuzmin, Doctor of Economics, Chairman of the Academic Council of the IEM, one of the first graduates of the Department of Management of Organizations. They shared their memories of studying and developing the Department in different periods of its existence.
They recalled the outstanding personalities who headed the Department at certain historical stages:
- Professor O. Sydorov, Doctor of Economics (1967–1978);
- Associate Professor Y. Korneliuk, Candidate of Economic Sciences (1978–1980);
- Associate Professor O. Yanushkevych, Candidate of Economic Sciences (1980–1985);
- Professor Y. Petrovych, Doctor of Economics (1985–2005);
- Associate Professor H. Zakharchyn, Candidate of Economic Sciences (2005–2008).
In 1996, the Department was renamed into the Department of Business Economics and Management. From 2004 to the present day, it has been the Department of Management of Organizations. In 2008–2014, it was headed by Professor Nataliya Chukhray, Doctor of Economics, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, and since 2015, the Department has been headed by Professor Oleh Karyi, Doctor of Economics.
Prominent figures who graduated from the Department of Management of Organizations are:
- Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine;
- Mykhailo Kolisnyk, Professor at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), President of CFO Club Ukraine;
- Oksana Yurynets, People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 8th convocation, Deputy of the Lviv Regional Council of the 8th convocation;
- Anna Haiduk, Professor at the International Business Department, Heilbronn University, Germany;
- Nazar Nironovych, co-founder of Energoresurs-Invest LLC;
- Ruslan Veleshchuk, Vice President of the Association of Professional Customs Brokers, Director of Green Light LTD LLC;
and many others.
Many graduates sent video greetings, including Olia Koshyk, Bozhena Malishevska, Olia Mukha, Viktoria Mikkelson, Vladyslav-Oleksii Hychka and dozens of others. The faculty of the Department of Management of Organizations sincerely rejoices at their successes and achievements, introduces new vectors of development, supporting the traditions of the Department’s 80-year history and always invites colleagues to cooperate, share experience and analyze practical business cases for the benefit of free and independent Ukraine.
The festive concert at the end of the event gave unforgettable emotions to all the guests.
