On March 25, 2025, the Department of Applied Linguistics took part in the celebration of the Days of Italian Language and Culture at Lviv Polytechnic — an event dedicated to intercultural dialogue, educational cooperation, and the promotion of the Italian language in Ukraine.
The event opened with a welcoming speech from Carlo Colonnella, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Ukraine. In his address, he expressed support for the university’s initiatives, emphasized the importance of Ukrainian-Italian cooperation, and thanked the participants for their interest in and love for the Italian language.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the project “Promozione e comunicazione ‘I love Capri’”, delivered by Prof. Fabio Converti, a visiting professor at the Department of Applied Linguistics from the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” (Caserta, Italy). Students of the Department, Tetiana Meleniv and Yuliia Lozinska, shared their experiences of participating in the project and their internship in Italy through a presentation titled “Esempio di comunicazione per la bellezza culturale”, which focused on communicating Italy’s cultural heritage. Professor Converti also outlined prospects for future cooperation, aimed primarily at the renovation of Ukraine — particularly within the framework of UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 (Agenda 2030), which pertains to the development of inclusive, safe, and resilient communities.
Future cooperation initiatives were also presented by Prof. Michele Nicoletti from the University of Trento (Italy).
Orest Vasyľko, assistant at the Department of Applied Linguistics and head of the Italian-Ukrainian Cooperation Center “Leonardo da Vinci,” spoke about the Center’s activities and available educational programs.
Associate Professor Marianna Dilai from the Department of Applied Linguistics discussed the significance of Ukrainian-Italian language contacts and the influence of the Italian language on the development of the Ukrainian linguistic space.
This day became a celebration of linguistic and cultural exchange, bringing together lecturers, students, and partners of the department around a shared idea — strengthening international cooperation and building linguistic and cultural bridges between Ukraine and Italy.
