On March 25, 2021, the European Commission officially announced the launch of a new European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for 2021–2027.
With a budget of over € 26 billion, the updated programme will be not only international, but also more inclusive, digital and environmentally friendly!
The aim of the EU Erasmus+ programme is to support the educational, professional and personal development of EU citizens in the fields of education, youth and sport in order to contribute to sustainable growth, job quality and social cohesion, innovation, European identity and active citizenship.
The key priorities are to develop quality in education and training, inclusiveness and gender equality, green and digital transformation, teacher training, higher education and support for the geopolitical dimension. In addition, Erasmus+ for 2021–2027 continues to support teaching, learning and research of European integration, in particular regarding future challenges and opportunities of the European Union within the framework of Jean Monnet Actions.
New flagship initiatives, such as European Universities, the Erasmus+ Teacher Academies, the Centers of Vocational Excellence and Re-open EU, have also become part of the Erasmus+ programme.
