The Department of Ukrainian Language joined the Lviv session within the international conference «Beyond Language 2025», which gathered participants at Lviv Polytechnic, opening a space for dialogue between Ukrainian scholars and representatives of different universities. This year, 148 speakers from Europe, Asia and North America took part in the international conference. The Lviv session of the conference was attended by more than 30 scholars from Lviv, Kyiv, Sumy, Ternopil, Lutsk, and Kharkiv, representing leading universities and institutions of Ukraine: Lviv Polytechnic, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Sumy State University, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Hryhorii Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, etc.
Olena Levchenko, Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics, opened the plenary session in the assembly hall of Lviv Polytechnic. The topics of the presentations were multidisciplinary: they discussed war metaphors, cultural memory, linguistic identity, translation challenges, semantic transformations, linguistic and cultural dynamics, and social aspects of communication in times of turbulence. Linguistic, translation and legal aspects of Ukraine’s European integration process were also actively discussed.
Due to the frequent air raids that day, the breakout sessions continued in a shelter.
The Department of Ukrainian Language is sincerely grateful to the conference organisers – the Department of Applied Linguistics, Lviv Polytechnic, in particular Olena Levchenko, Nataliia Romanyshyn and other colleagues for the high scientific level of the conference, interesting presentations, cosy and pleasant atmosphere, lively discussion, friendliness and cooperation.
