A festive event took place on the second floor of the main building of the university, near the Christmas tree. Artistic ensembles performed traditional carols, while the orchestra presented familiar pieces for the audience to enjoy.
The university chaplain, Father Yurii Ostapiuk opened the event with a welcome speech, emphasizing that carols are the language of love:
– Today, I want to draw your attention to the fact that carols are more than songs – they are a language. Through this language, we speak of the One who entrusted Himself to us, humanity: Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ. That is why today the carols will be performed in different arrangements – some classical and others in a modern interpretation of this timeless language.
My wish for all of you is that, as we sing, listen, and experience these carols together, we remember that they are a language of love, trust, and, especially in times of war, hope. Let these carols be a language of love that touches everyone here and fosters goodwill among us. Carols have always traveled from house to house, telling the story of Christ’s birth and reminding us that every person is precious. May this language remind us that we are important and valuable on our land – our Ukrainian land. And may the singing of carols not stop here. I remind you that we will continue singing until February 1. There is so much to say about love: God’s love for humanity, our love for one another, and love for our own hearts. Let these carols sound loud and sonorous today, so that we can all sing together and joyfully proclaim the birth of our Savior: Christ is Born!
The artistic ensembles of the Prosvita People’s House participated in the festive event, interweaving music, singing, and theatrical performance into a unified Christmas presentation. The orchestra, bandura ensemble, and choirs filled the hall with carols, while the actors added mood and symbolism, transforming the concert into a joyful story unfolding within the walls of our university.
Such events have long become a cherished tradition, as Lviv Polytechnic not only preserves and honours its customs but also breathes new life into them each year, engaging artistic ensembles and the university community in a joint festive celebration – cherished and deep-rooted Ukrainian tradition.
