On Thursday, November 29, 2018, there will be a presentation of The Silence Lesson film at the Assembly Hall of the main building of Lviv Polytechnic National University. It is about life, work and heritage of Ukrainian Professor Bohdan Viitenko (1921–1985), who lived in Sorocaba, the state of São Paulo from 1960 to 1985, taught Philosophy at a local university and left more than 15,000 followers, many of whom still implement the practice of meditation at schools.
Bohdan Viitenko is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of Lviv Polytechnic. During the Second World War, he fought for the independence of Ukraine. Ukrainian emigrant was fluent in 14 foreign languages, and was a Knight of the Order of the God of the Sun (Ukrainian organization in Germany). He studied at the Ukrainian Free University (Germany), was engaged in scientific activity in Cambridge (UK), and taught at famous universities in Germany, the United Kingdom and Brazil. His life and heritage were the subjects of research by many Brazilian scholars, and his methods of applying yoga basics in the teaching process still have the followers.
The presentation will take place with the participation of the film director Celso Fontão.
