On December 7–8, 2023, Ruslana Huminilovych, Associate Professor at the Department of Physical, Analytical and General Chemistry, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, participated in the National Conference of Academic Career Offices at the Silesian University of Technology.
During her business trip, the representative of Lviv Polytechnic got acquainted with the work of the Support and Accessibility Center at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, and took part in the following discussion panels:
- Women in the world of science: functioning of stereotypes, activation of projects,
- Functioning in the academic environment and at work for people from Ukraine, including people with disabilities,
- Cooperation with employers in connection with the dynamics of changes in the labour market regarding future competencies and the formation of the professional profile of candidates,
and following workshops:
- Cooperation with employers and the private sector: how to build lasting relations and partnerships?
- Flexibility in action – adaptive soft skills in the labour market.
Also, within the framework of the conference the representative of our university held meetings with Wieslaw Banys, the founder of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools of Poland (CRASP), Bartosz Stawiarz, the founder of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, and Anna Marciniak, the head of the Program Department, European Funds for Social Development (FERS).
Participation in the conference was successful and fruitful. Ruslana Huminilovych presented Lviv Polytechnic National University and learned more about an alternative education to master a certain degree of higher education. This is both about lifelong education and about the perceived need to create/develop one’s own career path, when both a student and an experienced worker must understand where they are on their career path now, where they want to be in the short or long term and what needs to be done for this.
Special attention was paid to the direction «Women in science». Science does not stand still, despite all the challenges faced by scientific and pedagogical workers in the conditions of a full-scale war. And although the scientist’s path is thorny, it is full of bright hopes and dreams of realizing the impossible, as I. Franko said – «beyond the limits of the possible», science will always exist and will attract everyone interested. A person becomes a person precisely thanks to his/her irresistible desire for knowledge, the eternal burning of «pure reason».
