The optional course Taking Action on Food Security for students of the Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic, proceeds. This course is new, interesting and truly innovative in its essence and content, and most importantly – during pandemic, it has its own peculiarities.
- Firstly: the project is implemented within the Visiting professor program with the assistance of the Center for International Education, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
- Secondly: this is the course of Melanie Miller Foster, who currently serves as Assistant Professor of International Agriculture, the Pennsylvania State University, which she kindly decided to read for students in Ukraine.
- Thirdly: Lviv Polytechnic students got enrolled in this course at Penn State University, USA, for free.
- Fourthly: during pandemic, they could not go abroad, but modern information technology in education has given them the opportunity to participate remotely using the educational platform Canvas.
- And last but not least: the course is not adapted for students from Europe or, moreover, Ukraine, it is read as for students from the USA and Mexico, so Polytechnicians have the opportunity to communicate with students from other countries, overcome language barriers and get a real education for the XXI century professionals.
