The Department of Management and International Business, Lviv Polytechnic, runs an online course on Global Sustainability, developed by Professor Scott Walker (Northwest Vista College and Creighton University, USA) and Associate Professor Viktoriia Kharchuk, within the framework of the Internationalization Leadership Academy program. It is significant that the students of this course are both students of Lviv Polytechnic and students of the partner university.
The course aims not only to inform students about modern aspects of global harmonious development, but also to create conditions for communication, discussion and performance of common tasks on the given topics by students.
Such cooperation was made possible by participation in the international program Internationalization Leadership Academy, organized by Education USA, which is a network of the US State Department, the American Councils in Ukraine and the SUNY COIL Center.
The course was preceded by a series of trainings for teachers, organized by Education USA and SUNY COIL Center. The trainings aimed to acquaint with modern tools of online teaching, initiating and maintaining virtual exchanges between HEIs and the peculiarities of working with an international audience. The next steps were to develop and agree on a study program for the Global Sustainability course, which would meet the needs of students from both educational institutions, as well as to complete this course on the Canvas platform.
Participation in the program is highly appreciated by teachers, as it allows not only to ensure the development of professional competencies, but also to get acquainted with and disseminate the best educational practices of American HEIs in Ukrainian universities. At the same time, students of Lviv Polytechnic have the opportunity to study in a multicultural environment and improve their English language skills.
