On December 8, the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference «Theory and Practice of Design: New Challenges in the Conditions of War» was opened in the Zachariewicz Hall, the main building of Lviv Polytechnic. The organizers of the event are Lviv Regional Military Administration, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Lviv National Academy of Arts.
Starting the conference, Bohdan Cherkes, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design, welcomed all the participants and expressed his sincere gratitude to our soldiers.
During his speech, Yurii Buchko, Deputy Head of Lviv Regional Military Administration, emphasized that a full-scale war has become a new challenge for architects and designers.
The conference dealt with the problems of restoring destroyed cities, the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process for creative majors during the martial law, the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage. As part of the event, on December 9, the Center for Architecture, Design and Urbanism «Powder Tower» hosted a charity exhibition and sale entitled «Lviv Designers – Armed Forces of Ukraine». The organizers will transfer the collected funds to the needs of the Army.
