The administration of Lviv Polytechnic met with students who came to the main building of our University with the demand to fire the linguist teacher Iryna Farion. On the eve of the meeting, the non-governmental organization «League of Students» addressed Lviv Polytechnic with a letter in which it outlined its demands and requests. Other organizations have not contacted our University.
Representatives of the administration: Liliia Zhuk, Vice-Rector for Education and Strategic Development, Oleh Davydchak, Vice-Rector for Graduate Education, and Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Education and Social Development, came to talk to the youth. Students were informed that yesterday, November 13, a working group, which included representatives of the commission on ethics and academic integrity of Lviv Polytechnic Academic Board, including the head of the Students’ Board and the Students’ Union of our University, started working on this issue. The purpose of this commission is to check compliance with the norms of professional ethics, rules, norms of communication and moral principles of Professor Iryna Farion, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Ukrainian Language, in an interview with journalist Yanina Sokolova (Randevu program on 5 Channel dated November 4, 2023), guided by Article 34 of the Law of Ukraine «On Higher Education».
The Vice-Rectors invited the initiative group to communicate in order to find out the opinion of the students. The Polytechnic administration was discussing the issues of interest with the youth representatives for more than an hour and accepted their requests. They also agreed that they will meet with the young people on November 23 and present the results that the working group of the University will have prepared.
