From September 27 to October 4, 2021 Ukrainian researchers from the Department of Ukrainian Language, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Oksana Mykytiuk (Associate Professor), Myroslava Hnatiuk (Senior Lecturer) and Liliia Kharchuk (Senior Lecturer) underwent an internship on «Peculiarities of educational and scientific work at the Institute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania». Place of internship – Institute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Kaunas, Lithuania). The research supervisor was Director of the Institute Rustis Kamuntavičius, Phd., Associate Professor at the Department of History (Czeslaw Milosz Center at Vytautas Magnus University).
Academics of the Department of Ukrainian Language got acquainted with the areas of scientific work of the Institute, mastered the basics of delivering public lectures and methods of promoting the heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Experience in the reviewing academic and educational publications was also highly appreciated.
It was especially important to master the method of preparation for the publication of the popular science edition of Rustis Kamuntavičius «Baltarusijos istorija», which is written on the principle of How was it really? At the round table dedicated to this publication, it was discussed the method of material coverage, in particular: presentation of real, archival, historical facts in metaphorical, simple and accessible language, searching how to represent state relations by comparing the past of neighboring peoples and study on this basis the impact on one’s own identity.
At the scientific discussion with the participation of Oksana Mykytiuk, Myroslava Hnatiuk and researchers from Poland, Lithuania and Belarus (Tomasz Blaszczak, Iryna Matiash, Dorota Michaluk) it was discussed the figure of Ivan Kraskovskyi, who pursued international politics during the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR). The time of change, great conflicts, building new states became an interesting direction of the narrative and helped to fill in the blanks in the history of Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.
The participants of the internship took part in the scientific panel «Belarusian vector in the linguistic practices of Ukrainian linguists».
Academics of the Department of Ukrainian Language sincerely express their gratitude to the supervisor Rustis Kamuntavičius and the management of the Institute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Kaunas, Lithuania) for the valuable experience of international educational and scientific internship.
