Lviv Polytechnic National University has completed the educational and leadership program ONLY: Open a New Leader in Yourself, which aims to develop leadership and innovation in Ukrainian universities. Since March, the participants have been actively involved in a mini-MBA with international experts, mentoring sessions by Ukrainian and British experts and networking meetings.
The project, which brought together academics, researchers, and administrators from all over the country, helped its participants acquire new skills, expand their professional horizons, and strengthen their leadership positions in the academic environment.
Dr. Martha Mador, ONLY Coordinator from Kingston University (UK), noted the importance of the program and emphasized that the team will continue to facilitate further project implementation.
The participants presented their own projects and ideas for the development and transformation of Ukrainian higher education institutions. At DemoDay, 10 participants presented their developments, and 3 of them will have the opportunity to undergo free internships at UK universities in November.
The winners are:
- Mariia Mandryk-Melnychuk, Bukovinian State Medical University, with her project OpenHeartsLivingLab BSMU;
- Tetiana Yablonska, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – Educational and Practical Center – Stop Addiction;
- Mariia Vyzhva, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University – SMILE (Systemic Motivational Integrated Leadership Experience for University Students).
The participants not only developed their leadership skills but also contributed to the implementation of new initiatives in their institutions.

We are confident that the participants have not only gained new knowledge but are also actively developing projects and transforming the areas of work in their institutions and in society as a whole», commented Nazar Podolchak, Director of the University’s TechStartup School.
The ONLY project was implemented by Kingston University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Tech StartUp School with the support of the British Council Ukraine as part of the Going Global Partnerships Gender Equality Partnerships program.
