The chemists from Ukraine – Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro- and from abroad – the USA, Brazil, Mexico, France, Germany, Poland, Georgia and Azerbaijan – took part in the conference.

The event had a hybrid format, which was initiated by Professor Mykhailo Bratychak, a long-time head of the Department of Chemical Technology of Oil and Gas Processing. Actually, this year’s conference is dedicated to the bright memory of this famous scientist, researcher and inventor.

Delegates worked in six sections: processing of fossil fuels; petrochemistry and coal chemistry; chemistry of fuels and lubricants and technical fluids; products of organic synthesis; polymers, composites and nanocomposites; ecological aspects of production and use of oil refining and petrochemical products.

The participants raised questions related to environmental sustainability in chemical production, namely the prospects for the production of environmentally safe aviation gasoline from domestic raw materials, methods of disposal of oil-containing waste, purification of biogas from hydrogen sulfide in the production of biomethane, production of surfactants from bio-raw materials for modifying road bitumens, in general, the possibility of improving technological equipment of Ukrainian and foreign oil and gas refineries, improving the range and quality of available products.

Reports on this topic were prepared by research scientists from Kyiv, Lviv, and Kharkiv Polytechnics, and other participants actively participated in the discussion of current topics. Colleagues from abroad shared the experience of new technologies, solutions to oil-contaminated soil restoration, and also took part in the discussion of topical issues of the Ukrainian chemical sector, in particular, in the work of a round table, which discussed the problems and prospects of the oil and gas processing and petrochemical industry of Ukraine.

– Professor Józef Haponiuk, Gdansk University of Technology, Gdansk, Poland, dedicated his report to the problems and ways of recycling used car tires. Professor Arkady Shteinbock, Shenkar College, Ramat Gan, Israel, in his report focused on new 3D printing technologies. These reports were of great interest, says Associate Professor Yuriy Demchuk, secretary of the conference organizing committee.

All best reports will be published in the journals Chemistry, Technology and Application of Substance and Chemistry and Chemical Technology.
