D1.12 – Round tables with pharmaceutical distribution companies within Western Ukraine region.

The following roundtable discussions were held within the framework of the implementation of the international educational project GoodPharma.

Round table discussion with the participation of members of the Technologies of Pharmaceutical Preparations Department of the National University of Pharmacy and representatives of pharmaceutical distribution companies

Date: June 26, 2023

The following were present:

  • Oleksandr Kukhtenko - Dr. of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor; Head of the Technologies of Pharmaceutical Preparations Department, and Dmytro Soldatov – Docent, Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Associate Professor of the Technologies of Pharmaceutical Preparations Department, National University of Pharmacy (NUPh), Kharkiv, Ukraine;
  • Yanina Cherneha and Andriana Andriiv - representatives of distribution pharmaceutical companies, specialists in medical public relations, graduates of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology;
  • Staff of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology (TBASPB), namely:
    • Vira Lubenets - DSc, Professor, Head of the TBASPB Department;
    • Aelita Krychkovska, Natalia Zayarniuk and Roksolana Konechna - Docents, Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Associate Professors of the TBASPB Department;
    • Maryna Stasevich - Prof., Dr. of Chemical Sciences, Professor of the TBASPB Department;
    • Semen Khomyak and Natalia Stadnytska - Docents, Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences, Associate Professors of the TBASPB Department;
    • Svyatoslav Polovkovych - Dr. of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the TBASPB Department;
    • graduate students and students of LPNU and NUPh.

They discussed a number of topical issues related to the educational, scientific and professional areas of work of educational institutions in specialty 226 «Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy». In the report of Prof. Oleksandr Kukhtenko, significant attention was paid to the Academic Mobility Program for applicants and teachers between Lviv Polytechnic National University and the National Pharmaceutical University, which provides an opportunity to conduct scientific research and exchange experience.

Yanina Chernega and Andriana Andriiv ​​spoke about the range of medicines and pharmaceutical groups of popular drugs, paying special attention to the change in activities that occurred as a result of Russia’s military aggression, and charity events that the pharmaceutical company’s management introduced.

During the roundtable, Prof. Vira Lubenets, who is the coordinator of GoodPharma project, introduced the participants to the goal and expected results of the project. GoodPharma team member Associate Professor Nataliya Zayarniuk listed the activities planned within the project implementation.

Special attention at the round table was devoted to the organization of the student conference, and colleagues from higher education institutions were invited to join the event. The Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Prof. Oleksandr Kukhtenko, agreed to become one of the members of the conference program committee and support it by involving students of the NUPh in active participation.

The member of the project team, Asю Professor Aelita Krychkovska, presented programs of two educational courses that were created within the framework of this project. They discussed individual topics of disciplines that interested colleagues from the NUPh.

Oksana Potymko, Ph.D. in History, Head of the Resource Center for Educational Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities of the LPNU, invited the participants of the round table to the Center, where she conducted a familiarization tour of its activities.

Round table discussion with the participation of the Public Organization «Galician Pharmaceutical Association» and distribution pharmaceutical companies

Date: December 22, 2023

The roundtable discussion was held, the participants of which were members of the project team «Good solutions for gaps in Pharmacy: in line with European priorities, GoodPharma», members of the Public Organization (PO) «Galician Pharmaceutical Association», representatives of distribution pharmaceutical companies and the leadership of the TBASPB Department of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

On the agenda were:

  • report by the Head of the TBASPB Department, coordinator of the GoodPharma project, Professor Vira Lubenets, the purpose of which was to familiarize those present with the goal and activities planned within the framework of the project;
  • speech by the Head of the pharmacy «Pharmacy No.1», pharmacist of the highest category, Nelya Byk, who is the executive director of the Public organization «Galician Pharmaceutical Association»;
  • speeches by representatives of distribution companies operating in the Western region of Ukraine.

Following the round table presentations, there was a discussion, exchange of experience and creation of an action plan in cooperation between the Galician Pharmaceutical Association, teachers of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. and representatives of pharmaceutical distribution companies within the framework of the GoodPharma project.

The event was attended by about 30 participants:

  • members of the GoodPharma team: Taisiia Nakonechna, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Marketing and Logistics; Aelita Krychkovska and Nataliya Zayarniuk, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology;
  • members of the Public Organization «Galician Pharmaceutical Association» under the leadership of the Vice President of the organization, Nelya Byk;
  • representatives of distribution pharmaceutical companies – Oksana Khropot, Nazariy Vengrin and Volodymyr Krasnopolsky;
  • lecturers of the TBASPB department: Iryna Hubytska, deputy Head of the Department for organizational work, Assoc. Prof and Nataliya Monka, Assoc. Prof of the TBASPB Department.

Feedback questionnaires were created and a survey was conducted by directly asking questions in real time.

Round table discussion with representatives of the pharmacy chain «Podorozhnyk»

Date: May 22, 2024

As the part of GoodPharma project, the roundtable discussion was held with representatives of large Ukrainian pharmacy chain «Podorozhnyk» on the topic «Employment, internship and career growth prospects for future industry specialists».

During the event, the following topics were discussed: the youth employment program «Plant START», soft skills for further self-realization, cooperation within the framework of the «Educational Pharmacy» project, which provides for internships and training of students in a pharmacy, as well as organizing training for pharmacy employees on serving people with disabilities.

The roundtable was attended by employees of the pharmaceutical chain Company «Podorozhnyk»: Yuliana Kaminska - regional director, Kateryna Smaglo - HR manager, and Ivan Nosyk - company specialist.

The roundtable discussion with members of the staff of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and representatives of the «Podorozhnik» Company

Date: November 15, 2024

The roundtable discussion was held with members of the staff of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and employees of the pharmaceutical chain Company «Podorozhnik» as part of the II International Student Scientific-Practical Conference «Good Solutions for Gaps in Pharmacy: in Line with the European Priorities».

Were present:

  • employees of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Danylo Halytsky LNMU: Head of the Department, Bohdan Hromovyk, Professor of the Department, Oksana Levytska and Associate Professors of the Department, Iryna Gorodetska, Dzvenyslava Hrushkovska, Kateryna Dorykevych, Oleksandra Kornienko, Natalia Khanyk & Iryna Chukhrai;
  • representatives of the Company «Podorozhnyk»: Head of the Department of Cooperation with Educational Institutions of the «Podorozhnyk» Company, Inna Shergei, and Manager of the of the Department of Cooperation with Educational Institutions of the «Podorozhnyk» Company, Marta Pylat.

The following topics were discussed:

  • requirements for pharmacy in the European Union and individual EU countries, standards for quality control, licensing, regulation of supply chains and prevention of drug shortages, as well as prospects for the pharmacy chain «Podorozhnik» to join the European Business Association;
  • training of pharmacy students, qualification requirements and professional responsibilities of pharmacists in the individual EU countries, employment prospects;
  • conducting an optional course «European aspects of the distribution of medicinal products at the stages of promotion from manufacturer to consumer» within the framework of the GoodPharma project;
  • the opportunity for the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Danylo Halytsky LNMU to be a co-organizer of the next conference.

Round table with representatives of the Lviv Regional Military (State) Administration

Date: May 28, 2025

The round table was held with representatives of the Lviv Regional Military Administration (LODA) and employees of the pharmaceutical distribution company, and the participants were members of the team project GoodPharma.

Invited to participate were

Yulia Melnikova - Head of the Department of Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities and Victims of the Accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and Andriana Hrynyshyn - Chief Specialist of the Department for Internally Displaced Persons of the Lviv Regional Military Administration;

as well as representatives of the pharmaceutical company STADA in Ukraine: Iryna Maltyz - Registration Specialist, and Liliia Vynokur - Regulatory Affairs Specialist.

Present at the discussion were Prof. Vira Lubenets - GoodPharma project coordinator, Head of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology (TBASPB); as well as members of the GoodPharma project team: Taisiia Nakonechna – Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Marketing and Logistics, Aelita Krychkovska – Assoc. Prof. of the TBASPB Department and Nataliya Zayarnyuk– Assoc. Prof. of TBASPB Department, as well as teachers from the TBASPB Department.

During the roundtable discussion, representatives of the LODA and the pharmaceutical company were introduced to the international educational project GoodPharma and the stages of its implementation, and members of the project team learned about aspects of social protection under martial law and the scope of work of the regional administration departments, as well as the current state of registration of medicines in Ukraine.

The topics discussed during the meeting concerned future cooperation within the framework of the project implementation with LODA employees, the spread of European practices in logistics and distribution of medicines, as well as the problems of inclusive education in the world and in Ukraine, and the creation of a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities and internally displaced citizens.

To discuss the issues raised during the round table on November 15, 2024, a round table was held at the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University with the participation of representatives of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and representatives of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Date: March 21, 2025

The following representatives of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University were present: Bohdan Hromovyk - Head of the Department, Oksana Levytska - Professor of the Department, and also Iryna Gorodetska, Oleksandra Kornienko, Dzvenyslava Hrushkovska, Kateryna Dorykevych, Natalia Khanyk & Iryna Chukhrai – Assoc. Professors of the Department.

The Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of Lviv Polytechnic National University was represented by: Vira Lubenets - Head of the Department, as well as Aelita Krychkovska and Natalia Zayarniuk – Assoc. Professors of the Department.

They discussed issues that were raised during the meeting at the II International Student Scientific-Practical Conference «Good Solutions for Gaps in Pharmacy: in Line with the European Priorities» in November 2024: problems of training pharmacist students, requirements for their qualifications, prospects for their employment, and joint research work of teams.

The issue of involving the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy of LNMU in organization of the III International Student Scientific and Practical Conference «Good solutions for gaps in Pharmacy: in line with the European priorities», which will be held in the fall of 2025 at LNMU as part of the implementation of the international educational project Erasmus+ Jean Monnet 101085257 GoodPharma, was also discussed.
