Project Concept

All the AURORA technologies will be developed, with the main priority being preserving the original structural and material properties of the considered cultural objects.

Chemical anticounterfeiting

AURORA will realize a nano-marker reading procedure that is challenging to replicate, founded on both peculiar chemical tag properties and the encoded information.

Artwork digital-ID

AURORA chemical marker, non-invasively applied onto the artwork surface, will be based on modern nanotechnologies to achieve a cost-effective and durable solution for encoding the artwork-ID

Digital tool

The digital tool will compare the data read from the marker to the corresponding data previously recorded in the blockchain-based storage (permanently and immutably) by the museum authority owning the artwork.

Artwork tracking

The AURORA tracker aims to inform the relevant staff of abnormal artwork movement. The communications between the tracker and the stakeholders will be tested through the AURORA digital tool, employing wireless hardware triggered by specifically defined logic.
