Akolada National Chamber Vocal Ensemble, created in 1970, is the unique group at Lviv National Polytechnic University. It unites musically gifted students, employees and graduating students, enriching in such way their cultural and educational level.
Volodymyr Savytskyy, the candidate of technical sciences, associate professor at Lviv National Polytechnic University, is the founder and permanent conductor of ensemble.
There are over 80 works of composers of different epochs in the repertoire of this group. These are old polyphony of West-European composers, classical compositions, pearls of Ukrainian music and compositions of the modern Ukrainian composers, sacred music and National striltsi and insurgent songs (the Sich Riflemen and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army songs).
A group is a laureate of X From Christmas to Christmas Ukrainian Song Festival and International Sacred Music Festival in Loretto City (Italy), the prizewinner of the Prof. Dimitrov International Choral Contest (Varna City, Bulgaria) and Makovetska Struna International Contest of National Song (Bardejov City, Slovakia).
In 1995 the group was conferred a rank of National for high performance.
Akolada gives concerts for students and employees of Lviv Polytechnic National University and other educational institutions of Lviv, participants of the International Scientific Conferences, held at the university, and for Lviv City and region inhabitants.
