Dear Polytechnic community!

Every year, on the last Saturday of November, a candle burns in our windows, which is a symbol of commemoration of the Holodomor victims – the dead, the living and the unborn.

This year marks 90 years since one of the greatest tragedies in the history of our nation – the Holodomor of 1932–1933. There are fewer and fewer living witnesses of the atrocities of the Soviet totalitarian government, which wiped out every grain, took away even the smallest piece of bread from people who did not want to serve the tyrant. Scientists are still revealing the terrible facts of the destruction of Ukraine by famine. Their blood runs cold...

Until recently, it seemed to us that such atrocities could not be repeated in the modern civilized world. However, living through the ninth year of the war and the second year of a full-scale invasion, witnessing the torture, shootings, and brutal crimes of the Russian occupiers in various parts of our country, we must understand that the same enemy uses the same methods as he had used before.

Today, the world is watching the tragedy of our people and is not always ready to take radical steps to stop bloodthirsty killers. Therefore, each of us should become an ambassador and tell the truth about this war, shout to the whole world about what is happening in the center of Europe.

For several weeks, an article by The Independent has been circulating on the Internet that Putin, like Stalin once, wanted to condemn our people to starvation. Global Rights Compliance (GRC) testified in its report that the Russians deliberately targeted grain-rich areas and food production infrastructure on February 24, 2022. The enemy exported 12,000 tons of grain daily from all occupied territories. Hunger was once again to become another tool of war against Ukrainians.

We must remember our people suffered and still suffer great losses. How cynical propaganda works and how merciless is the hybrid war that Russia is waging against each of us. It is very important to draw the right conclusions in order to prevent the recurrence of tragedies.

These days, let’s remember the millions of our compatriots who were destroyed by the terrible totalitarian machine. Eternal memory and honor to them!
