On 27 June, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted the MobilityUP Hack – a student hackathon. The event turned the L.I.S. space into a laboratory of ideas for improving the city’s mobility. Youth, transport and inspiration – this was the formula of the event.
Bachelor’s and master’s students majoring in Organisation of Transportation and Management in Railway Transport and Transport Technologies (in Road Transport) attended the hackathon. They were united by a desire to influence changes in the city through ideas, teamwork and innovative approaches.
MobilityUP Hack became part of the MobilityUP: Youth Leads the City Forward project, implemented by the NGO Linia102.ua in cooperation with the Department of Transport Technologies, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Lviv Polytechnic. The event was supported by the Lviv European Youth Capital 2025 programme with the assistance of KfW, UNICEF and the Federal Government of Germany.
The project was one of the winners of the youth initiative competition. Its authors are Oleh Vozniak, Yuliia Hermaniuk, Yuliia Lesiv and Taras Fedun, lecturers at the Department of Transport Technologies, and the Department itself became a key academic partner in its implementation.
All participants received certificates of participation and souvenirs – notebooks with pens and key chains with project symbols. The teams were awarded in special nominations: for teamwork, creativity and the idea with the highest degree of implementation. The winning team received pancakes with the project logo.
MobilityUP Hack represents more than just an event; it is a meaningful initiative to involve youth in decisions around urban mobility. It’s a space where students not only learn but also drive change.
Ideas are born in a day. Changes take longer. But this is where they begin.
And this is just the beginning. As part of the MobilityUP project, an online flash mob #MyMobilityLviv is planned, where participants will share their own ideas to improve urban mobility. The ideas will become an inspiration for everyone who wants to influence transport decisions in their city.
