A webinar on Psychological Support of Citizens in Crisis Situations was held at Lviv Polytechnic within the framework of the Baltics4UA project. The academic community and students of the University attended the event.
The speaker was Iryna Sniadanko, a practicing psychologist, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Psychology, the Institute of Jurisprudence, Psychology and Innovative Education. Since the beginning of the war in 2014, she volunteered to work as a psychologist with the military, and with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, she became one of the first employees of the Center for Free Psychological Assistance at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The speaker familiarized the participants with the main tools for providing psychological support to citizens during crisis situations. During the event, they also discussed types of coping and their impact on personality stability, analyzed the concept of psychoeducation and its application in crisis situations. As one of the results of the meeting, it was determined that a crisis situation, in particular a war, is an abnormal situation in the development of society, therefore the behavior of each individual in it is absolutely normal and depends on many peculiarities of the stability of his psyche.
After the speaker’s report, the academic community actively participated in the discussion. The participants took into account its results.
The format of the event made it possible to attract a larger number of participants ensuring safety compliance.
