The uniRank University Ranking (4 International Colleges & Universities) was published in an updated version from January 2021.
The uniRank University Ranking, formerly known as 4icu, positions itself as a non-academic University ranking that examines the quality of performance and popularity of higher education institutions on the Internet based on independent web metrics extracted from different web intelligence sources: Moz, Majestic, SimilarWeb and Amazon Alexa). The authors of the ranking note that this approach is designed to help students, faculty and researchers to assess the overall popularity of the university.
The 4icu website (Four International Colleges & Universities) is a database that organizes information about educational institutions in 200 countries. The UniRank Ranking (4icu) reflects the popularity and traffic of 13,800 universities around the world. This ranking has been published since May 2005. Since its inception, the ranking methodology has been periodically fine-tuned in order to provide better results.
The current ranking is calculated by a special formula based on the following web metrics:
- Moz Domain Authority (indicates the number and quality of external links to the website according to Google search engine);
- Alexa Global Rank (this indicator takes into account the number of visitors and pages viewed in the Alexa system);
- SimilarWeb Global Rank;
- Majestic Referring Domains (indicates the number and quality of external links to the website according to the Majestic search engine);
- Majestic Trust Flow (reflects the quality of the websites linking to the site, measuring the «trustworthiness» of a page).
The 2021 ranking includes 186 Ukrainian universities. Lviv Polytechnic National University ranks eighth among them.
