Every day, a team of researchers from the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic, is working tirelessly to improve the AQUIOR medical alginate sterile hydrogel dressings to treat wounds and burns. The developers take into account the recommendations of doctors and ordinary users and strive to make products more effective and convenient to use – both for doctors and patients.
The range is growing every year. From now on, AQUIOR dressings, wipes, bandages, masks and sheets are available for everyone in different sizes. Feedback and innovators’ desire for the improvement contribute to the rapid development of medical polymers and their applications in medicine and related industries.
However, the research team led by Volodymyr Samaryk, Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry, ICCT, does not stop there. The scientists have already produced research batches filled with various painkillers to ensure prolonged action of the drug on the affected areas of the human body. They aim to expand the product range in the future and spread the modern progressive method of wet wound healing.
It is not the first time that the researchers have received the painkiller lidocaine for the production of experimental batches from the team of JSC Halychpharm and TM Arteriu. Polytechnicians are grateful to Director Oleksandr Blonsky and Head of the Research Centre Iryna Hnativ for supporting innovative products and comprehensive assistance in the formation of a domestic medical device manufacturing thanks to the initiative of the University’s researchers and the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
In search of the anti-inflammatory/analgesic drug diclofenac sodium, representatives of the research team turned to another pharmaceutical company, Chervona Zirka Chemical Plant, PJSC. The company’s employees did not refuse the request and agreed to produce the required batch of the drug. The brave pharmacists from Kharkiv were not deterred by the shelling and power outages, and in a few weeks the expected package of diclofenac sodium, which was used for a new research batch of hydrogel dressings, arrived in Lviv. We express our gratitude to the Kharkiv pharmaceutical company and the community of pharmacists for their courage and support! AQUIOR products are also used by doctors in Kharkiv hospitals, so we are working together for the sake of Ukraine’s victory.
It is great when the triangle Science – Government – Business really works, and MedTech innovations conquer the world. So let’s move forward joining our efforts!
