Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the Swiss association Hilfswerk Ukraine has been actively involved in the implementation of various projects and has been providing significant humanitarian assistance to Lviv Polytechnic. This year, thanks to the cooperation with the non-profit organisation Hilfswerk Ukraine, the university received powerful diesel generators that will ensure the uninterrupted educational process during possible blackouts. The humanitarian package was handed over to Mykhailo Honchar, Director of the Institute of Economics and Management, and his deputy Yuriy Malynovskyi who is also the Head of the Lviv Polytechnic Center for the Collection of Humanitarian Aid.
It is known that the Swiss partners donated two 12-kilowatt and five 4-kilowatt generators to Lviv Polytechnic. Most of the equipment was installed in student dormitories No. 1, 4, 10, 11, 14, 15, providing students with comfortable living conditions even in the absence of centralised electricity supply. One of the 12-kilowatt generators is installed in the third academic building, which houses important scientific laboratories.
– We are extremely grateful to our Swiss partners for this invaluable support, said Yuriy Malynovskyi, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics and Management, Lviv Polytechnic. These generators will allow us to continue the educational process and research even in the face of unforeseen power outages.
The head of the Lviv Polytechnic Center for the Collection of Humanitarian Aid also stressed that cooperation with Hilfswerk Ukraine has been going on for many years, and the organisation understands the challenges faced by the Ukrainian people:
– Our Swiss colleagues always respond to our requests for help. Last year, they helped us to restore the 15th dormitory after the shelling by Russian missiles. Today they are helping us to overcome the consequences of the energy crisis.
Yuriy Malynovskyi added that the university expects to continue and further develop its partnership with the Swiss association Hilfswerk Ukraine.
