Artificial intelligence today is no longer the future, but our reality. We communicate with chatbots, receive recommendations on Spotify or Netflix, learn with the help of artificial intelligence, and even create art using generative models. New multimodal systems capable of working with text, images, video and sound simultaneously open up completely new horizons – from virtual assistants to intelligent learning platforms.
But with new opportunities come new questions. Deepfake videos call into question the reliability of information. Algorithms can reproduce hidden biases. Students and researchers are increasingly using generative AI in education – but is it always fair and ethical? How safe is it to delegate important tasks to AI? Could AI-based decision-making lead to discrimination?
That is why the EU has adopted the AI Act – the world’s first comprehensive law on artificial intelligence, which will serve as a starting point for global regulation.
At the Summer School «European Approach to Artificial Intelligence», we will discuss not only theory but practical issues as well.
All these issues will be addressed at the Summer School «EU and AI: European Approach to Artificial Intelligence», organised by the Department of Automated Control Systems, Lviv Polytechnic National University as part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module «Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence: the European Approach» (No. 101085626 – TrustAI – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH):
- Modern AI technologies: opportunities, prospects, and limitations;
- European approach to machine learning;
- Trustworthy artificial intelligence: an approach based on risk assessment;
- New regulatory framework for AI: ethical AI.
In practical sections, invited experts will talk about best practices and interesting tasks for using AI, as well as the advantages, challenges, and risks of its use.
Dates: 1–5 September 2025
Format: blended
Senior undergraduate students (starting from the 3rd year), master’s students and postgraduate students can take part in the Summer School.
