On May 7, a meeting of students and faculty of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Institute for Law, Psychology, and Innovative Science, and Piotr Lukasiewicz, Charge d’Affaires of Poland in Ukraine, Head of the Polish Diplomatic Mission, took place at Lviv Polytechnic.
Before that, Mr. Lukasiewicz met with the Acting Rector of Lviv Polytechnic Yurii Bobalo and the Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations Nataliya Chukhray.
In his speech to the students, Piotr Lukasiewicz, emphasized the importance of democratic transformations in Ukraine and the role of the younger generation in this process:
– Your most important task is to build a strong democratic state – with free media, freedom of speech, and respect for the law. No one will help you with this. No matter how much Europe tries, this is your business.
He also emphasized the importance of preserving national identity and called on young people who are studying abroad to return and work for the benefit of Ukraine:
– You can go to study wherever you want, but come back and build a sovereign Ukraine. You will forever remain Ukrainians, wherever you are. This is your state.
The diplomat also shared his vision of the role of the European Union:
– The EU is a platform for exchanging experience and growth, it is not a state, but a union.
The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere of dialogue, and the students had the opportunity to ask questions about Ukraine’s European integration, the prospects for further support from Poland, and learn about the guest’s vision for the development of Ukraine after the end of the war.
