The FIDE Youth U16 Chess Olympiad 2023 took place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. 63 teams from 47 countries took part in it. Vladyslav Fishchuk, a tenth-grader from the Lviv Academic Gymnasium at Lviv Polytechnic National University, competed for the Ukrainian team in the Netherlands. Vladyslav has been training at the «Debut» Chess School for Children and Youth.
According to the results of the World Chess Olympiad, Vladyslav Fishchuk took second place, showing a brilliant result – 7.5 points in nine games!
Before that, representatives of the Lviv Academic Gymnasium won silver at the World Chess Championship among schoolchildren in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The Lviv team competed in the age category under 12 and became the second among 27 participants.
