A student of Lviv Polytechnic joined the development of a Microsoft Teams bot to help teachers

 Microsoft Teams

Ukrainian students of the Microsoft Student Partner program have created a bot that helps users find answers to various basic questions, related to Microsoft Teams, regarding the transition to distance learning.

The bot is implemented due to Azure Cognitive Services – a set of services related to artificial intelligence, namely QnA Maker. This is an API service from Microsoft, based on the Azure public cloud, which allows you to work with available data in the form of questions and answers. It works and is available in Telegram, Teams and Web versions.

Five students joined the development of the bot: Daria Shmeliova (National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy), Yelyzaveta Pudim (National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute»), Serhiy Onyschenko and Ivan Mykhailenko (Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics) and Oleksandr Zholob (Lviv Polytechnic National University).

The development team plans to further update the list of questions regarding distance learning and work in Microsoft Teams so that the bot can answer all the educators’ questions and help them effectively organize the learning process online.

Oleksandr Zholob explains:

Teams is part of Office 365. Microsoft Teams is more than just a video tool. It is a functional platform where you can create a virtual classroom, conduct online lessons for up to 250 participants, create lessons schedule with the ability to share learning materials and home assignment on one closed structured and secure platform. Microsoft student community collaborates via Teams, as it includes about 2,000 members worldwide. We hope that our development will help teachers to continue working and students learning in new conditions using technology.

Microsoft Student Partners is a global educational program that selects creative, technically savvy IT students. The program increases participants’ chances for future employment by offering them courses in non-university disciplines, as well as Microsoft technology training. The program operates in most countries of the world, in Ukraine as well, and is available to all students studying at secondary and higher education institutions.
