On 14 March, the Veterans Service Center, Lviv Polytechnic, hosted the opening of the photo exhibition «One Day in the Life... A Story of the Unbreakable Ukrainian Spirit». Veterans and volunteers from different brigades, as well as students, photographers and university representatives gathered in the hall. Visitors were observing the pictures which told more than any words. Some stood silently, others wiped their tears, looking at the stories frozen in the frame.
In his speech, Yuriy, Bobalo, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, emphasised that this exhibition reveals the power of the veteran’s spirit. The photographs depict people of different ages and experiences, but they are united by a common challenge – the war.
– This exhibition could not cover all those who we call veterans, but it gives an idea of their resilience, said the Rector.
The exhibition was created by such photographers as Oleh Ohorodnyk, Iryna Baranska-Voronina, Taras Hren, Sofiia Lehin and Roman Metelsky. Thanks to their work, it became possible to see the stories of those who returned from the front, who lost a part of themselves but did not break down.
During the opening of the exhibition, poems dedicated to the warriors were recited and songs were played, adding even more profoundness to the photographs. The atmosphere of the event was filled with emotions and a sense of deep gratitude to those who have defended and are defending Ukraine.
The event was hosted by Tetiana Shapovalova, who warmly and insightfully accompanied the program, empowering the words with a special meaning.
At the end of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Lviv Polytechnic, the 125th separate territorial defence brigade and the commander of the LMTC LION Volunteer Formation No. 2. This once again confirmed the importance of the relationships between the student community and the military.
The photo exhibition left a lasting impression. It reminded everyone that the history of the struggle continues, and it is our duty to remember those who are writing it.
