Integrating Ukrainian science into the global scientific community is a key condition for its sustainable development. Lviv Polytechnic National University supports initiatives that strengthen international cooperation, facilitate the exchange of experience, and foster the formation of modern scientific communities.
A significant step in this direction was the establishment of the Ukrainian Society of Medicinal Chemistry – a professional platform that unites specialists from across Ukraine to advance innovations in medical and pharmaceutical chemistry. This initiative aims to strengthen the presence of Ukrainian scientists on the global stage and promote integration into the international research community. Notably, the Society is led by Professor Roman Lesyk, Doctor of Chemical Sciences at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, one of Ukraine’s and the world’s leading experts in medicinal chemistry.
It is no less important that the employees of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic, namely Professor Sviatoslav Polovkovych, Doctor of Chemical Sciences and Associate Professor Andrii Karkhut, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, have joined the Society, contributing to the development of the Ukrainian scientific school of medicinal chemistry.
The next strategic goal of the Society’s activities is to join the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (EFMC). This membership will open new opportunities for collaboration between Ukrainian scientists and the international research community, participation in joint research programs, and increased global visibility for Ukrainian scientific achievements. Initiatives like this demonstrate the active integration of Ukrainian universities into the global scientific arena and reinforce Ukraine’s position in the field of modern medicinal chemistry.
