A representative of Lviv Polytechnic took part in meetings with Eurodoc leaders in Kyiv

A delegation of the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) visited Kyiv. President Sebastian Dahle and Vice-President Pil Maria Zaugmann met with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Research Foundation and other institutions to discuss the situation in the scientific sector of Ukraine and work together on solutions to support young Ukrainian researchers and higher education institutions, whose activities were significantly affected by the war.

On July 20, 2023, the Eurodoc leaders met with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Denys Kurbatov. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the perspective of cooperation and support of science as a strategic direction of Ukraine’s development in the post-war period of the country’s reconstruction, and the participation of young scientists in this process. At the meeting, the problems and challenges of the work of young scientists, their support from the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, as well as their participation in European projects and grants were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Olha Polotska, executive director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, Ihor Taranov and Hryhorii Mozolevych, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Olesia Vashchuk, head of the Council of Young Scientists of the Ministry of Education and Culture, her first deputy Anastasia Simakhova, as well as the ex-president of Eurodoc Oleksandr Berezko – a long-term member of the organization board, consultant of the Council of Young Scientists at the MES, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Social Communication and Information Activities, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic, Head of the University Web Services Support and Development Unit, coordinator and manager of the OPTIMA project.

At the meeting, the parties agreed on cooperation, further support for science and young scientists of Ukraine.

During the following days, Eurodoc representatives met with young researchers, specialists in the field of science communication and interested stakeholders from all over the country.
