Traditional Lviv Polytechnic Rector Cup in dance aerobics and «Miss Fitness» contest were held in Lviv Polytechnic sports complex on May 16. 10 teams and 20 athletes – fitness marathon participants – took part in the tournament.
Professor Yuriy Bobalo, Lviv Polytechnic Rector, admired the number, brightness and beauty of the contestants and wished them all great performance at the gala opening parade.
Fitness marathon participants were the first to perform. The girls had to demonstrate a set of exercises and the judges assessed the technique and performance lightness. It was incredibly difficult to choose the best athletes because all the girls had been preparing for the competition very hard and they were determined to win.
After that, the dance aerobics competition began. As usual, the teams presented various dance styles. The guests of this show had an opportunity to see a fiery disco, a sensitive contemporary, a joyful afro-jazz, a native Ukrainian dance, a stylish broadway and other choreographic trends. The spectators supported the performers warmly. Each team received their portion of applause at the end of their performance.
This time, Lviv Polytechnic Rector Cup in dance aerobics became open. Teams from another higher educational institution – Ukrainian Academy of Printing – were invited for the first time to take part in aerofunk tournament. As a result, the guest teams «Bell Dance» and «Freedom» received silver and bronze medals in the funk tournament. Lviv Polytechnic team aerobics «Tekhnika» (coach – Olena Cherepovska, senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education) became champions.
This celebration of aerobics and fitness was made even brighter by the great performances of the contemporary dance club «Karamel» (instructors – Khrystyna Melymuk and Anastasiya Seleznyova), Lviv Polytechnic sports aerobics team (coach – Marta Melnychuk, senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Education, master of sports) and «Tekhnika» team.
The competition went smoothly. The judges’ work was really difficult. However, the best athletes were finally chosen. In dance aerobics competition, «Banderivky» team with the show «Ukrainian wedding» was the third. The «Fireworks» team with an interesting «pirate» story and elements of cheerleading was the second. The girls from the «Drive» team with a broadway style show (coach – Olena Cherepovska) became champions and won Rector Cup.
There was also a contest for the most elegant, the most attractive and the most artistic athlete. Olha Tertyshnya (Institute of Economics and Management) won the title «Miss Elegance». Karina Oliynyk (Institute of Architecture) won the title «Miss Artistry». Marta Hrynyuk (Institute of Building and Environmental Engineering) won the title «Miss Attractiveness». There was also a traditional prize from the Chief judge of the competition. Olha Balan (Institute of Geodesy) received it for her incredible dance transformation.
The results of the exhausting fitness marathon are the following: Roksolana Zvir (Institute of Architecture) won the title «Second Vice-Miss Fitness», Natalya Kindrativ (Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies) won the title «First Vice-Miss Fitness». And Olha Leskiv became «Lviv Polytechnic Miss Fitness 2017».
Drawing the conclusion, Yuriy Bobalo, Lviv Polytechnic Rector, congratulated the contestants and winners, wished them further success in sports and other aspects of their lives and advised them to expand the horizons of these competitions.
So the competition of 2017 is now history. And the plans for 2018 are looming on the horizon…
