On 24 June 2025, Oleksii Druhov, Professor at the Department of Management of Organizations, the Institute of Economics and Management, on behalf of Professor Nataliia Shakhovska, Lviv Polytechnic Rector, took part in the International Forum Unbroken Justice organised by Lviv City Council.

The Forum has become an important platform for discussing humanitarian challenges related to the war in Ukraine, in particular, the issues of providing assistance to people who have suffered torture, captivity and psychological trauma.

The event included the opening of the St. Leo the Great Mental Health Centre, the first specialised space in Ukraine for people who have survived captivity, torture and moral trauma. The establishment of this facility was a response to the urgent need for professional psychological support for Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression. The centre will provide comprehensive assistance to victims, facilitating their psychological recovery and integration into society.

The forum featured discussions on key humanitarian and legal issues, including:

  • psychological assistance to victims of torture and war crimes;
  • accountability for crimes against humanity and genocide;
  • international legal initiative to establish a tribunal for Putin
  • community resilience in war and post-war recovery.

Lviv Polytechnic's participation in this event is another step in the partnership development between the university, Lviv City Council and the Unbroken National Rehabilitation Centre. The cooperation covers:

  • joint research in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation;
  • development of innovative solutions to support the affected population;
  • creation of the latest educational products aimed at restoring human capital and developing the country's socio-economic potential.

Lviv Polytechnic remains actively engaged in initiatives that not only address today’s challenges, but also lay the scientific and educational foundations for Ukraine’s post-war recovery and the creation of a sustainable future.
