On November 14–16, 2018, Professor Julian Fink from the German University of Bayreuth delivered three lectures from the cycle The Big Picture. The Connections Between Human Rationality, Institutions, Markets & Ethics) in Lviv Polytechnic.

At the first lecture, Professor Fink revealed the analytical philosophy approach to explaining human actions in market conditions. He stated and argued the thesis that the economy should be based not only on mathematics, but on the philosophical interpretation of human rationality, which is closely related to institutions, morality and markets.

The next day the lecturer considered the nature of business ethics – its internal contradiction between gaining profit as a concern for the welfare and morality as altruism.

At the third lecture, the guest of Lviv Polytechnic told why in the market conditions the minority has a lot, and the rest has much less. Professor Fink explained, from the point of the analytical tradition, the essence and influence of the formal factor – the law and separately the mechanisms of social norms and morals.
